During summer, the grass is growing taller and it is more difficult to spot the birds nesting there. Every now and then, they come out of the grass, like the Song lark doing its song and moves. Birds are nesting and finding food at Herdla during Summer. Almost 250 species have been spotted there, but much less are nesting there.
The bay west of the bird towers are now closed, typically from 15th of April and till September.
It is often wind from north when the weather is sunny. The birds hide and it appears to be less birds during these conditions. But early morning and late evening, when the light is in favor of the photographer, the wind is typically less intense, or even gone. The sea then reflects everything, also the birds who search for food in the shallow waters.
